After a long career in the Indian Police Service Dr. Jijaa Harissingh served as Director General of Police, Director General Fire and Emergency Services, Commandant General Home Guards and Director Civil Defence of Karnataka state in India from 2007 until her retirement in 2011. Since then, she has been working as an independent consultant in the area of civil security and is currently a partner of BIGS in the Indo-German research project “Sensor based Security and Emergency Management System for Underground Metro Systems during Disaster events” (SenSE4Metro).
India has unfortunately a lot of experiences with terrorist attacks, many of which do not get much attention in the German media. Most well-known are the 2008 Mumbai attacks. In the same year, however, eleven other major terrorist incidents occurred throughout India, including a series of bombs that exploded in Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka state. Dr. Jijaa Harissingh will speak about these and other experiences, especially with regard to lessons learned for security in public transport systems.
Chief Fire Officer Wilfried Gräfling became a volunteer fire fighter at the age of 18 and later, after studying electrical engineering and economics, started his career as a professional firefighter in North Rhine-Westphalia. He joined the Berlin Fire Brigade in the 1980s and has been serving as its head since 2006.
In December 2016, Berlin experienced its first Islamist terrorist attack, when Anis Amri drove a stolen truck into the crowd at the Christmas market at Breitscheidplatz. Chief Fire Officer Gräfling led the fire brigade’s response to this terrorist attack. He will speak about this experience and draw conclusions with regard to adequate preparedness and protocols for such incidents.

Tim Stuchtey was invited as a speaker to this year's Chatham House - The Royal Institute of International Affiaris Cyber Conference from 26th to 27th of June 2017. He will be part of Panel 4 regarding the topic "Rising International Tensions and Cyber Defense".
