Security Management Education in Europe

As part of the fit4sec research team, Alexis Below conducted a survey across Europe in which he analyzed the status quo of European security management education.

The survey serves as exploratory research into current offerings and developments in tertiary security management education to provide new insights and ideas for further research to interested scholars, educators and practitioners in Germany and elsewhere.

The study finds that there is a small number of relatively young programs in each country often based at universities of applied sciences with a strong focus on vocational training. While participants’ backgrounds seem similar across countries, most programs are nationally oriented with little to no formal internationalization. The complete survey can be found here.

fit4sec-Workshop on AI in Horizon 2020 “Secure Societies” on the 17th of February 2020 in Berlin

On Monday, the 17th of February 2020, BIGS will host a fit4sec consortium training workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the context of the calls for proposals of the European Security Research Framework Programme Horizon 2020 “Secure Societies” (2018-2020).

In this fit4sec workshop we want to bring together experts from industry, academia, civil society and public bodies – in particular LEAs – to address the specific challenges and opportunities in the field of AI . Each session assembles multiple perspectives to jointly identify key challenges, pressing knowledge gaps and best practices in this field. The final strategic session synthesizes results of the presentations and debates, in an attempt to potentially complement some of the consortia in the making.

Should you be interested in participatingplease do let us know by the 31st of January what you would like to contribute to a possible consortium in the field of AI (AI01-2020AI02-2020AI03-2020) via caroline.vdheyden(at)bigs-potsdam.org.
